As announced some time ago, published here is the second expansion pack for “Paranoid Differences” dedicated to the Italian regions, “Emilia-Romagna.”
It is no coincidence that we chose the Emilia Romagna: This Italian region has recently been hit by a devastating earthquake that has caused immense problems to the local economy as well as corroding the great artistic and cultural heritage. (more…)
Light sensors and their issues

We talked some time ago about a specific sensor that right now almost all modern mobile phones have. This time we’re going to talk about another common sensor in today’s mobile devices, not just smartphones but also tablets: environmental light sensor.
The light sensor (“environmental” is commonly left out) has a very simple use. As mobile devices batteries must be preserved, and display brightness can be changed (by varying backlight on LCDs or brightness itself for OLEDs), it would make sense to keep it at its maximum only in extreme conditions, i.e. direct sun light, and dim it when there’s less light.
